As a Christian woman, I often try to figure out ways that I can remind myself that God loves me and is always there for me. I listen to K-Love Christian Radio, I listen to my Christian CD’s, I look around me and just marvel at nature and all God created. It is these things and others which give me inspiration and hope that God is with me and he loves me.
Recently, I was given the opportunity to receive an item that I thought might be another one of those things that reminds me of God’s love, and I was right.
The item I am referring to was The Caring Cross. When I first received The Caring Cross in the mail, I was excited to open it as I had read about it and was looking forward to actually holding it. My excitement was justified as when I first held The Caring Cross I felt a sense of warmth; I knew that God had sent his son to die on the cross for me so that I could live eternally. The Caring Cross fit comfortably in the palm of my hand, and was small enough to fit in my jeans pocket so I could hold it throughout the day whenever I needed a reminder of how God cares for me. Even though it was small enough to fit into my jeans pocket, it was large enough to give me comfort in times of need.
I’ve been carrying The Caring Cross with me for a week now, and I don’t know that I can explain just how it makes me feel. Being able to reach into my pocket and hold The Caring Cross has given me a lot of comfort, strength, and security this past week, and I expect it will give me a lot of comfort, strength, and security in the months ahead. I’ve been going through a lot of stuff lately, stuff that is hurtful and painful emotionally, and The Caring Cross has really made a difference in how I feel emotionally.
Caring Crosses are hand-crafted individually from a unique, single piece of olive wood which has been pruned from olive trees in Bethlehem which is the birth place of Jesus Christ. The cross I received is light colored, smooth, and has beautiful grain which flows for the length of the wood. I have never owned anything made of olive wood before, but I have to say it really is a beautiful wood. I could tell that it was hand-crafted because of the uniqueness of the cross; you can just tell it’s not made from a machine. I’m also extremely glad that it’s smooth because I don’t have to worry about it giving me splinters or catching on my clothes.
The cross came in a burgundy colored bag which also had a scripture verse card inside which was Psalm 56:3, and inside the card it gives a little information about the crosses. I also received a cream colored bag with a card inside; this would make a perfect wedding favor, or even a baby shower favor. You could give it for just any reason or no reason at all.
Christians in Bethlehem have been crafting these types of crosses for generations. Originally they were crafted for pilgrims, but have most recently been crafted for tourists who are visiting the Holy Land. The craftsmen who carve these crosses are given a fair price for their work so that they can continue to support their families and their Christian communities. This is something that stuck out to me, and makes me want to support the effort of spreading the word about these wonderful hand-crafted crosses. I have told just about everyone I know about the cross.
The Caring Cross also would make a wonderful fund-raiser for youth groups, women’s groups, and even individuals who need to raise money for let’s say a mission trip or something. They would also make fantastic Christmas gifts, and that time of year is here.
Currently, My Caring Cross has two specials going on during the Christmas season. You can order 8 Caring Crosses, which are delivered Priority Mail within the US for only $36, that’s an incredible value of only $4.50 for each. Alternatively you can order 2 Caring Crosses within the US for only $12.00 an incredible value of only $6.00 for each. These are absolutely wonderful deals for a beautifully hand-crafted cross, and to top it off you will be helping to support the Christian Artisans in Bethlehem.
